Frequently asked questions about test prep and academic tutoring.
Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep
Why are your Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep classes broken out into 8-week sessions?
Our experience has taught us that students cannot adequately process, practice, and learn all of the requisite SAT/ACT material in a shorter amount of time. Students need consistent instruction and skill practice that builds sequentially during the interactive 8-week program. Additionally, instructors need time to fully present the material and to determine each student’s needs.
What is GroupSmart®?
GroupSmart® is our secret sauce. After years of test prep and tutoring, we know it’s critical that students feel comfortable in their learning environment. We use our proprietary GroupSmart® algorithm to intelligently group students for our award-winning Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep. It’s efficient and it’s effective. Students are in class with others of similar strengths and challenges. They confidently ask questions and learn from each other’s queries. No other test prep company does this. Learn more about GroupSmart®.
What if my student needs additional one-on-one sessions?
Although our Small Group Test Prep course is comprehensive, we do offer discounted individual tutoring rates for those who desire to continue their prep after the course is complete.
My student has a very tight schedule. Will she still be able to take the Small Group course?
Yes. After you enter your student’s information during the registration process, we run our GroupSmart® algorithm. We then determine the optimal class options for your student. You will have several schedule choices for both the math portion and the reading portion of the course.
What if I’m on vacation or miss a class (or two)?
For our Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep courses
We understand that at times, sickness/school/sports/personal commitments prevent students from attending a particular class. During our non-summer Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep courses, we allow one free make-up class. During our summer Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep courses , we allow two free make-up classes provided we can accommodate you. This can only be done on a case-by-case basis by submitting a request, via our Class Reschedule Request Form, before the missed class with at least 72 hours advanced notice. If you do submit a request, we will do our best to schedule a makeup class for you. But, we cannot guarantee a makeup class given that our classes are grouped by scores (students should attend classes aligned to their scores and other data) and we only have a limited number of classes running each week for each instructor. If your student is missing over a week of class, please reach out to your instructor to obtain the assigned homework for the following week of class. Since each new week starts on Saturday, there is no “going back” to a previous week if missed. Due to this, we will not be able to provide a makeup for Week #8 since the SAT is the Saturday immediately after the class ends. Last minute requests will not be approved. We need to ensure students are in his/her respective class as much as possible.
Issues with the weather/driving conditions (e.g. snow) are out of our control. If we do cancel classes due to snow, then we will do our best to schedule a makeup, but cannot guarantee a makeup on specific times/days. Otherwise, we expect students to have reliable transportation and arrive to class on time.
For additional make-up classes beyond the allowed free one class (for non-summer) or free two classes (summer), a fee of $75 will be charged to your account.
For those who cannot make up the class and need to, we do offer a discount on individual tutoring for those weeks.
For Individual Tutoring
Loudoun Test Prep makes reasonable efforts to adjust to the hectic schedules of our clients, but only if notice of cancellation is received at least 24-hours in advance of the scheduled appointment or tutoring session. Cancellations with less than 24-hours advance notice will result in a charge of the full amount of the scheduled time or session.
For All Other Courses
For group programs other than our Small Group SAT/ACT Test Prep courses, there are no make-up classes available as there are no other parallel courses offered during these programs.
My student forgot to about her last individual tutoring session. Can she reschedule?
We accept cancellations as long as you give us more than 24-hours advance notice. With more than 24-hours advance notice, we will work with you and your student to reschedule the session. With less than 24-hours advance notice, this will simply be a missed session that cannot be made up.

How are you addressing Covid-19 safety?
Keeping us all safe
As COVID-19 has persisted beyond any of our imaginations, we have continued to execute a plan that has kept both your students and our staff safe.
- We require that this waiver be completed and received by LTP prior to the first day of class.
- We wipe down all surfaces with sanitizer following each class.
- We have a proctor onsite whose sole responsibility is to enforce these safety rules!
- Parents shall take their student’s temperature prior to each class. If temperature is 100° or higher, the student is not permitted to attend in-person.
- Students must not attend in-person if they’ve traveled out-of-country within two weeks of a class.
- Students are responsible for bringing and wearing their own masks for the protection of others and themselves.
- LTP will not provide masks.
- Students who arrive at LTP without their masks will not be permitted to attend class.
- Students must wear mask properly — this means covering their mouth AND nose.
- Students are NOT allowed to enter our facilities prior to their class start time — the door will be locked. This is for two reasons:
- In-between classes we are cleaning/sanitizing all surfaces and the presence of students makes this difficult.
- We want to be very careful about too many students congregating in a small area.
- Parents on NOT allowed inside the facility. Again, this is due to our efforts to ensure that we minimize the number of people in indoor areas and maximize social distancing.
- All staff will wear masks at all times.
- Personal water bottles may be used.
- Social distancing of a minimum of six feet must be maintained at all times.
- We have separated our entrance and exit with floor markings.
- Only one person will be admitted to the respective restrooms at a time.
