Program Expectations & Commitment:
The LTP program is an intensive eight-week course designed to prepare students for the SAT. To maximize the benefit of the program, students are expected to be actively engaged (ask questions!) and focused in each class (no texting during class). We also expect students to complete their assignments on time and attend all classes on time. Last, students need a calculator for all Math sessions and practice tests.
Homework:
Roughly 3-4 hours of homework will be assigned each week. We strongly encourage students to spread out the homework to 30-45 minutes a night rather than cramming the day before class.
Practice Tests:
We will proctor full-length SAT tests (~3.5 hours each) through the duration of the course. If your student is unable to take any of these tests, please let us know and we can make alternative arrangements. These tests are scheduled after Week #4 and #7 of the course and reviewed in class in Week #5 and #8 respectively. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the tests are done on time for Week #5 and #8 classes.
The goal of these tests is to help each student practice learned techniques and with familiarize themselves with real-time test conditions (duration, anxiety, format, etc.). These are not meant to measure incremental progress/score increases through the program.
Make-up classes:
We do understand that sometimes issues arise that prevents students from attending a particular class. Since we have other classes that run on other days, we can sometimes accommodate your student to attend another class for that week, so they don’t miss class. This can only be done on a case by case basis by submitting a request, via our Class Reschedule Request Form, before the class with at least 72 hours advanced notice. If you do submit a request, we will do our best to schedule a makeup class for you. But, we can not guarantee a makeup class given our classes are grouped by scores (students should attend classes aligned to their scores) and we only have limited number of classes running each week for each instructor. If you are missing over a week of class, please reach out to your instructor to obtain the assigned homework for the following week of class. Since each new week starts on Saturday, there is no “going back” to a previous week if missed. Last minute requests will not be approved. We need to ensure students are in his/her respective class as much as possible.
Issues with the weather/driving conditions (i.e. snow) are out of our control. If we do cancel classes due to snow, then we will do our best to schedule a makeup, but can not guarantee a makeup on specific times/days. Otherwise, we expect students to have reliable transportation and arrive to class on time.
For those that can not make up the class and need to, we do offer a discount on individual tutoring for those weeks.
June SAT class particpants:
For June participants, we will run formal makeup classes every other week during the summer. Dates/Times TBD.
Communication:
Please provide contact information (e-mail and cell phone) for you and your student. If there are any last minute cancellations/adjustments in schedule, we’ll need to contact them immediately.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to working with your student.
