Experience the Difference that Respect, Attention and Flexibility Creates
Simply put, we get results.
Many of our students have taken the larger and pricier classes in addition to the quick and trendy “boot camps” and have been frustrated by the ineffectiveness of each. What is our secret?
We teach uniquely through a positive and logical approach to learning. We change how students think through test questions by offering a fresh perspective and a depth of understanding that other programs overlook.
We are proud that our SAT students’ average increase is 300-points. Additionally, our one-on-one students gain insight and more effective study skills as they improve grades and sustain a higher GPA.
One of our many goals is to recognize our students’ pace and progress. We then apply that knowledge as we teach and explain ideas and concepts. We have developed a unique ability to “read” our students exceptionally well, so we know if they are truly understanding the material — or not. Sometimes, a nodding head can be misleading.
Focus on First Principles
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime. At LTP, we believe it is better to teach students to think for themselves rather than to think for them. We believe that success comes through sincere understanding and deeper thinking, not by memorization or an ability to store facts. We show students how to reason through problems, make inferences and think more deeply and profoundly about ideas.
This approach leads to many wonderful “ah-ha!” moments when students realize the math problem or grammar construction they thought was insurmountable is doable. As these academic epiphanies increase, a newfound confidence appears that is crucial to successful standardized test taking, independent problem solving and improved grades.
If a student is struggling with percentages, for example, but seems capable of dealing with ratios, we have flexibility built into our program to focus on percentages for an entire class rather than adhering to a pre-determined agenda. Given this adaptability, homework and practice is determined at the end of each session, allowing for continuation of what was learned that day. This is why you won’t see a syllabus from us.
